Congratulations to Bridget D! She was selected by the Pedersen-McCormick Club to be the Club’s Youth of the Year nominee for 2016!

The Youth of the Year Award is the highest local honor, rewarding leadership, service and academic standing. Before they are nominated to represent their Club as Youth of the Year, candidates spend years dedicating themselves to membership at the club, personal development, and leadership training.

Bridget was nominated by Pedersen-McCormick Club to be the Chicago Youth of the Year for all her hard work and passionate dedication to the Club and teen issues.  She and teens from other Clubs around Chicago were honored at a special event and dinner in the ballroom on Navy Pier. She gave a wonderful speech, and all the Science Club team were proud to see her up on stage with 1,000 people applauding in the audience!

Bridget was a Science Club member when she was in middle school. In fact, her journal post outlining her Jolly Rancher experiment is still one of the most Googled pages on the Science Club website!

In the photo above, she was competing in our Get A Grip challenge, having worked with her team to design and test a prosthetic arm. Bridget is still an active Boys & Girls Club member and is now a Science Club high school mentor to younger students. She is always a welcome and smiling face at Science Club alumni events, too. Congratulations, Bridget!
