Way to go, Aaron M! Aaron was selected by the Pedersen-McCormick Club as the club’s Youth of Year nominee for 2017.

The Youth of the Year Award is the highest local honor from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago, rewarding leadership, service, and academic standing. Each chapter of BGCC nominates one teen as their Youth of the Year. Before they are nominated to represent their Club, candidates spend years dedicating themselves to membership at the club, personal development, and leadership training.

Aaron has been a part of the Pederson-McCormick Club for nine years. He’s been a part of the Science Club community in Uptown while in high school, supporting events, labs, and activities for younger club members. In this video, produced in 2014 by the Boys & Girls Club, Aaron said, “Here [at Science Club] I have the opportunity to be myself. I work with college students and help tutor my friends at the Club.”

Science Club helped Aaron find his passion for science. Now, he says, “One day, I’m going to change the world.”

Congratulations and best of luck, Aaron. We are proud of you!
